The
gap between girl academic achievement and
boy academic achievement is growing. In the
United States today, boys
receive 70 percent of the D’s and F’s and
less than 50 percent of the A’s. Boys
represent 85 percent of discipline
referrals, 66 percent of learning disability
diagnoses, and 80 percent of high school
dropouts. Boys are more likely than
girls to be held back a grade, suspended, or
expelled. They are less likely to go to
college. Learn what parents can do to help
bring underachieving boys up to
speed.
